Shanghai Production Services: Planning, Local Crew and Shoot Support

Shanghai production planning brings together the creative brief, location access, crew, equipment and a workable schedule. Shoot In China supports international productions with local coordination. A clear brief helps identify what needs to be arranged before the crew arrives and what can be handled on the shoot day.

Start with the production brief

Share the project type, intended deliverables, shoot dates, locations, crew size and working language. Include a treatment, shot list or visual references where available. Flag interviews, factory access, public locations, travel or specialist equipment early, as each can change the schedule and support required.

Prepare locations and the schedule

Location preparation should cover access times, sound conditions, power, loading, parking and space for crew and equipment. Confirm location permissions and any applicable filming requirements for the actual plan; an introduction to a location does not itself establish permission to film there.

Build time into the schedule for setup, interviews, company moves and wrap. When several stakeholders must approve a location or filming window, identify who gives final confirmation before locking the call sheet.

Bring crew and equipment into one plan

Define which roles are supplied by the visiting production and which are needed locally. Align the camera, lighting, sound and production teams around the shot list and delivery requirements. Our Shanghai crew coordination guide explains the day-to-day handoffs between departments.

Shanghai and productions beyond the city

For shoots combining Shanghai with nearby destinations such as Hangzhou or locations in Jiangsu and Zhejiang, allow for transfers, equipment transport and different location access windows. Beijing, Guangzhou and Shenzhen are separate production destinations elsewhere in China and need their own travel and local arrangements. See national crew coordination for a multi-city brief.
